OBJEKTWERDEN-OBJEKTSEIN
The project "Objektwerden - Objektsein" (Becoming Object - Being Object) unites six performers who question the usual separation between subject and object and examine how the human-centred view of the world influences our understanding of time, space, movement and power. By engaging in empathic interaction with objects, reversing power dynamics, and challenging societal norms, different sequences are formed inviting the audience to take new perspectives on agency and life.
Through performative strategies, such as experimenting with the human gaze upon (non-)human bodies and intertwining verbal and acoustic scores with Instant Composition techniques, the performers engage with non-human states, allowing subtle nuances to emerge in the object-subject dynamic. In doing so, the project critically interrogates the power structures and believes around being object or subject, that are inscribed within us. The result is a series of tactile, moving still lifes that humorously expose the pervasive influence of the patriarchal gaze.
